Australian accredited Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing Syllabus
The Ballet School of Colombo is thrilled to announce its partnership with The Commonwealth Society of Dance Teachers, marking a historic moment as the first dance school in Sri Lanka to join this prestigious society. This collaboration is a groundbreaking achievement for both us and CSTD, as they extend their affiliations to Sri Lanka for the first time.
The Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing holds a distinctive position among global dance societies, encompassing various dance forms. Originating in 1933 with the establishment of the National Examination System and the Victorian Society of Dancing Australia, the society has evolved into an authoritative examining body with internationally respected standards.
CSTD offers examinations for amateur and professional dancers across distinct syllabi covering:
- Classical Ballet
- Modern Jazz
- Tap Dance
- Performing Arts & Theatrical
- Contemporary & Lyrical
The society’s high standards make it a respected entity worldwide.
Under the CSTD syllabus, students can commence their dance journey with Foundation level exams, progressing towards a Teachers Diploma in all offered disciplines. This opens up avenues for participating in international dance festivals and programs, providing a unique opportunity for dancers to showcase their talent. The starting age for exams is 9 years and above.
